Regulation
Why DPP matters now
The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) requires Digital Product Passports for products sold in the EU market. The regulation is not a proposal — it is live, with hard deadlines by product category.
| Sector | Regulation | DPP required by |
|---|---|---|
| EV Batteries | EU Battery Regulation | February 2027 |
| Construction materials | CPR 2024/3110 | 2027–2032 |
| Textiles | ESPR delegated act | 2027–2030 |
| Electronics | ESPR delegated act | 2027–2030 |
No passport, no EU market access.
Target industries
Who needs a Digital Product Passport
The mandate covers physical goods sold into the EU. If your supply chain touches Europe, you are in scope.
Battery manufacturers
EU Battery Regulation requires a DPP for all EV batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh from February 2027.
Indonesian exporters
Nickel and palm oil supply chains face EU deforestation and due-diligence requirements. A DPP is the verifiable proof buyers now demand.
Construction material producers
CPR 2024/3110 mandates passports for steel, cement, and glass sold in the EU market from 2027 onwards.
Textile and electronics manufacturers
ESPR delegated acts covering textiles and electronics enter force between 2027 and 2030. Early adoption is a competitive advantage.
